The Dragons season came to end after a 7-5 loss to South Bend. They were down 7-1 and made it a game but the deficit was too much to overcome. It’s too bad because things looked good after a game one win by Dayton.

Todd Frazier and Zachary Cozart both went yard in the loss. Carson Kainer doubled twice and scored two runs.
Sarasota’s bid for the Florida State League championship ended tonight as they were eliminated by Clearwater in a 4-3. The Reds had two different leads in this one but could neither of them and it was Sean Watson who gave up two runs in the seventh that turned out to be the deciding runs.
Tonys Gutierrez went two for four with a run in the loss. Eric Eymann doubled, drove in a run and scored.
Sarasota was held to just five hits in a 3-2 loss to Clearwater that will force a deciding game three to determine who plays Brevard County in the Florida State League finals. Eric Eymann was the only Red with two hits and Tonys Gutierrez singled, drew a walk, scored a run and drove in one.
Daryl Thompson took the loss although he threw a decent enough game. He gave up two runs on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings of work.
The Dragons lost to South Bend 8-4 in a game where Dayton just couldn’t find any pitching. Rafael Gonzalez gave up four runs in his start and both Kevin Gunter and Misael DeJesus gave up two runs a piece. Gunter took the loss because the two runs he gave up broke a 4-4 tie.
Logan Parker belted a big three run homer that gave the Dragons the lead for at least a half inning. Carson Kainer was the only Dragon with two hits and he drove in a run.
The Dragons took a 1-0 lead in their playoff series behind an outstanding start by Daniel Guerrero. The right hander gave up one run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in eight very solid frames.
Carson Kainer went two for three with a double, an RBI and a run in the 3-1 win. Todd Frazier went two for four with a double and an RBI.
Sarasota took game one in their best of the three game series with Clearwater as they make a run for the Florida State League championship. Ben Jukich was the star on the mound. He didn’t allow a single hit with two walks and five strikeouts in seven innings.
