Sam Lecure had a rough start in the Lookouts 5-4 loss to Carolina although he didn’t take the loss. He gave up four runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Then Calvin Medlock gave up a run in the sixth that proved to be the game winner and he took the loss.
Enrique Cruz had a nice day at the plate. He went two for four with a homerun and two RBIs. Caonabo Cosme doubled twice and drove in a run while Jay Garthwaite went two for four with a solo homerun.
Richie Garnder had a nice start and despite not getting a decision, he played a big role in the Lookouts 2-1 win over Mississippi. He gave up three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five shutout innings. Calvin Medlock threw a shutout frame and he picked up the win.
Luis Bolivar was the hitting star in the win. He went three for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
A really good start by Carlos Fisher went to waste in the Lookouts 4-3 loss to Mobile. He gave up four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in six shutout innings. Calvin Medlock and Carlos Bohorquez combined to give up four ninth inning runs to lose the game.
Drew Anderson was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for four with a double, an RBI and a run.
The Lookouts beat Mobile 6-3 and Drew Anderson had his hands in four of those six runs. He went three for four with a triple and he drove two and scored two. Paul Janish also had a nice game. He went three four with two doubles and an RBI.
Calvin Medlock picked up the win with 2 1/3 shutout innings of relief. He gave up just one hit and he struck out five.
Camilo Vazquez improved to 3-3 on the season with a nice start. He gave up just one run on two hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings of work. Calvin Medlock also had a nice outing and he threw three innings of shutout relief.
Cody Strait had a nice game in the 7-1 win. He went three for five with a double, a homerun and three runs. Paul Janish also hit the ball well and he went three for five with two doubles, a triple, two RBIs and two runs.
The Lookouts scored two runs in the top of the seventh to tie their game with Mobile and then Cody Strait hit a solo homerun in the top of the tenth to take the lead. Unfortunately, Calvin Medlock was roughed up in the bottom of the tenth for two runs including the game winner the the Lookouts lost 5-4.
Tyler Pelland had a mixed start. He gave up seven hits but just two runs and he struck out three in four innings of work. At the plate, Drew Anderson doubled three times and scored twice while Christopher Dickerson was a perfect five for five. The two teams combined for 29 hits yet scored just nine runs.
