Four hits isn’t going to cut it and that’s all the Mudcats picked up tonight in their 9-0 loss. Three of the four hits went for doubles and Jose Castro was the only hitter to reach base twice with a double and a walk.
Jordan Smith fell to 4-3 with a rough start. He gave up three runs on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings. Ramon Geronimo was particularly hit hard and he gave up six runs in just one inning.
Dallas Buck fell to 2-3 on the season with a rough start in the Mudcats 6-2 loss to Jacksonville last night. Buck gave up three runs on four hits and two walks in two innings.
Chris Heisey went two for four in the loss. Carson Kainer went two for three with an RBI.
Travis Wood got it done on the mound tonight in his start and he improved to 8-3 in the Mudcats 7-0 win over Jacksonille. He gave up four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in six innings.
Chris Denove had a nice day at the plate and he went two for three with a home run and two RBIs. Sean Henry belted a solo homer while Logan Parker doubled, drove in two and scored a run.
Jeremy Horst fell to 0-1 on the season with a rough start in the Mudcats 10-2 loss to Jacksonville. He gave up five runs on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Carson Kainer went two for three with a double and a two run home run. Unfortunately he had two of the Mudcats five hits in this one.
Alexander Smit fell to 2-2 on the season with a really rough start in the Mudcats 8-6 loss to the Smokies. He gave up four runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. In fact all four pitchers that the Mudcats threw out there gave up at least one run.
Jose Castro led the way at the plate in the loss. He went two for five with a double, two RBIs and a run. Eric Eymann went two for four with a run and an RBI.
The Mudcats broke a 6-6 tie in the top of the ninth with one run only to see the Smokies score two in the bottom half of the frame to win it. Zach Cozart went two for five with two RBIs and a run. Juan Francisco went two for five with a double, two runs and an RBI.
Ramon Geronimo took the loss when he gave up the two ninth inning runs. The loss dropped him to 2-2 on the season.
The game was only five innings, but it was five solid frames by Mudcats started Tom Cochran as he improved to 1-0 on the season. He gave up only two hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
Yonder Alonso accounted for all of Carolina’s offense with a two run shot. It was his first home run since getting promoted from Sarasota.
The Mudcats held off a ninth inning rally by the Jaxx and they picked up the tight win 4-3. Sean Watson was the pitching star and he improved to 1-2. He gave up a hit and two walks with three strikeouts in three shutout innings of relief.
Sean Henry went four for four with two runs while the rest of the team picked up two hits and that’s it. Chris Helsey went one for three with a walk and a two run homer.
Jordan Smith fell to 4-1 on the season and while the defense committed three errors behind him, he also gave up a bunch of baserunners. He gave up five runs (two earned) on eight hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Chris Krosi went two for four with a double and an RBI. Juan Francisco belted a two run homer.
The Mudcats scored first to seal the win a 1-0 ten inning win over the Smokies. Juan Francisco belted a walk off, tenth inning homer in the bottom of the eleventh to win it.
Travis Wood threw six shutout innings in his start. Ramon Geronimo struck out two in two shutout innings and he improved to 2-1 on the season.
Yonder Alonso had a big day at the plate in the Mudcats 9-2 win over the Smokies. He finished the game three for four with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs while Chris Helsey went three for five with two doubles and a solo homer.
Zachary Stewart picked up the win and he improved to 2-0 with a nice start. He gave up one unearned run on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings. Tom Cochran gave up a solo home and he struck out five in three innings to pick up his first save of the season.
