Juan Francisco had a big day at the plate as the Reds took care of the Miracle 8-6. He went four for five with three doubles and three runs while Chris Heisey went two for three with a double and three RBIs.
Jordan Smith didn’t have a great start but he picked up the win none the less. He gave up three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings of work.
Eddy Rodriguez hit a walk off homerun in the bottom of the ninth as the Dragons beat the Lugnuts 5-4. He finished the game two for four and he drove in two runs. Chris Heisey went three for four with two runs.
Jose Rojas picked up the win despite giving up the tying run in the top of the ninth. He improved to 1-2 on the season.
The Dragons had a rough time at the plate in their 2-0 loss to Cedar Rapids. Oddly the four hits were racked up by just two people. Chris Heisey doubled twice and Justin Turner singled twice.
A nice start by Sean Watson was wasted. He gave up one run on six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
Dayton was held to seven hits in their 4-0 loss to Cedar Rapids. Chris Heisey was the only Dragon with two hits in the game and none of the seven hits were for extra bases.
Travis Webb took the loss and he dropped to 3-2. He gave up two runs on seven hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
Rafael Gonzalez had a tough start and he took the loss in the Dragons 7-1 loss to Clinton. He gave up six runs on ten hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
Chris Helsey had the only extra base hit of the game. He doubled and he also scored the only run for the Dragons.
The Dragons got it done with two wins in their doubleheader with Fort Wayne. In the first game, Rafael Gonzalez improved to an impressive 6-0 on the season with six shutout innings in the 4-1 win. He gave up three hits and four walks with a strikeout. Drew Stubbs hit a two run homer and Gerardo Cabrera went yard with a solo shot.
The Dragons got more solid pitching in the second game. Anthony Gressick gave up just one hit in five shutout innings and he improved to 2-1. Chris Helsey hit a solo homer in the 3-1 win.
Chris Helsey led the Dragons in their 8-4 win over Forth Wayne. He finished with two hits and one of them was a big three run homer. He also finished with two runs.
Jordan Smith threw a nice game in his start and he improved to 1-0. He gave up just one run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in five innings.
Dayton used four pitchers and all four did their job today. Starter Jamie Arneson gave up three hits and four walks with five strikeouts in four innings. Misael DeJesus picked up the win and he threw 2 1/3 innings of shutout ball.
Chris Heisey drove in two runs and tripled. Jason Louwsma also had a nice game and he went two for two with two RBIs and a run.
Drew Stubbs capped off a three run sixth inning as the Dragons came from behind to beat the West Michigan White Caps 3-2. Stubbs and Chris Heisey were the only two Dragons with two hits in the game.
Sean Watson had a nice start. He gave up just one run on seven hits with six strikeouts in five innings of work. Marcos Mateo struck out two as he got the final four batters out and he picked up the save.
