Dayton scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to tie this one up only to see the pen falter when the Lugnuts scored two in the bottom half of the frame to finish up the Dragons. Scott Gafney gave up those two runs and he fell to 3-3. Curtis Partch gave up three runs in five innings in a rough start.
Michael Konstanty went two for four with a triple, two RBIs and a run. Kevyn Feiner went two for four with a run.
The Dragons took care of the Lugnuts 5-2 and it was a pair of two run home runs that gave Dayton the bulk of their offense. Byron Wiley belted a two run shot in the fourth inning and then Michael Konstanty went yard with a two run blast in the fifth. Cody Puckett pitched in with three walks, a single and two runs.
Matt Fairel improved to 5-3 on the season with a solid start. He gave up two runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts in six innings. Aguido Gonzalez struck out two in a shutout ninth and he picked up his seventh save of the season.
This one was a crazy one. The Dragons stormed back from a 3-0 deficit and eventually took a 7-3 lead only to give up three runs in the eighth to make it close. Still, the Dragons held on to win this one 7-6. Lance Janke had a nice start and he gave up three runs on three hits and a walk with ten strikeouts in six innings. Scott Gaffney gave up a run in 1 1/3 innings, but he still held on and closed out thegame to pick up his third save.
Byron Wiley was the hitting star and he went one for four with a home run and four RBIs. Michael Konstanty went two for three with a triple, a walk and two runs.
The Dragons couldn’t get anything going at the plate as they were shutout in a 6-0 loss the West Michigan Whitecaps. All three hits were singles and Kevin Coddington led the way (if you can call it that) by going one for two with a walk.
Josh Ravin fell to 3-8 despite a solid start. He gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in seven innings.
The Dragons and Lugnuts got just seven innings in and fortunately the Dragons came out on the winning side of things. Lance Janke picked up the win and he improved to 2-3 with a pretty good start. He gave up two runs on eight hits and one walk with five strikeouts in six innings.
Stephen Chapman had a nice day at the plate. He went two for three with two RBIs and a run. Cody Puckett doubled, drove in two and scored a run.
Curtis Partch fell to 4-5 on the season with a rough start in the Dragons 11-2 blowout loss to the Lugnuts. He gave up six runs on eight hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in five innings. Oscar Castro also had a rough outing and he gave up five runs on five hits in just 1/3 of an inning.
Michael Konstanty pretty much was the Dragons offense. He had two of their three hits and he drove in both runs with two run homer.
The Dragons were clicking on all cylinders as they had their bats and arms going today. Josh Ravin picked up the winand he improved to 3-7. He gave up two hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in six innings. Mark James threw three shutout innings and he picked up his first save of the season.
Byron Wiley went two for four with a double, a home run and four RBIs. Dave Sappelt went two for four with a double, two RBIs and two runs.
The Dragons couldn’t get the bats going and the end result was a 3-1 loss to South Bend. Two hitters had two hits a piece. Cody Puckett went two for four with with a double and a run while Stephen Chapman went two for four with a double.
Scott Gaffney took the loss and he fell to 2-2. He gave up two runs on five hits and one walk with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of relief.
