The first five GCL Reds pitchers who came out on the mound all gave up runs with the first two giving up five in a 16-7 blowout loss to the GCL Orioles. Tzu-Kai Chiu gave up five runs on five hits with two of them being homers and he didn’t even make it through the first inning.
Neftali Soto went three for four with a run and an RBI. Tony Brown went two for five with a homerun and two RBIs.
Jamie Arneson improved to 1-1 on the season in a nice start in the GCL Reds 9-2 win over the GCL Red Sox. He gave up one run on two hits and three walks with six strikeouts in five innings.
The offense put together a nice team effort that saw six players have at least two hits a piece. Miguel Perez was the only hitter with three hits and he went three for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Juan Rafael didn’t give up in five innings but he walked two, threw a wild pitch then hit a batter before the go ahead run scored in the fourth inning on another wild pitch.
Miguel Perez drove in the only run for the Reds with a solo homerun. Jose Gualdron went two for three.
