The Bats lost two in one day as they were swept in their doubleheader against Buffalo. In game one, they were shutout 4-0 and the offense was held to two hits. No extra base hits, just one walks so three baserunners and you’re not going to win too often with that kind of (lack of) offensive production. Phil Dumatrait fell to 7-5 on the season with a mediocre start. He gave up three runs on five hits three walks with two strikeouts in five innings.
Game two was a bit closer but the end result was the same as the Bats lost 4-3 in ten innings to make for along day of baseball. Ricky Stone gave up a solo homerun in the tenth and he took the loss. Jesse Gutierrez went three for four with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
Carlos Fisher had another awesome start and while he didn’t pick up the win, he did what he could to keep the Lookouts in the game. He gave up one run on four hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in eight innings. He now has 35 strikeouts in 31 innings since being promoted Double A. In all of his five Double A starts, he’s gone at least five innings and in three of those five starts he didn’t allow a single run.
Jesse Gutierrez doubled and drove in a run. Luis Bolivar went two for three with a double and a run.
Bobby Livingston was hit hard in the Bats season opener but the pen really came through with 4 2/3 shutout innings in the Bats 5-4 win in ten innings. He gave up four runs on nine hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
Dan Conway had a big day at the plate. He went two for three with a homerun and two RBIs. Jesse Gutierrez singled and drove in two runs.
