Bats Lost to Braves In Ten Innings

Jason Kershner gave up two runs in the top of the tenth and that proved to be more then enough as the Bats lost 6-4 to the Braves.  A nice start by Bobby Livingston went to waste.  He gave up one run on three hits and a walk with one strikeout in six innings.

Joey Votto provided most of the offense for the Bats with a three run homer.  The long ball was his tenth of the season.  Ryan Freel went two for five and he stole two bases.

Richie Gardner Pitches Bats to Win Over Pawtucket

Richie Gardner won his first Triple A game in only his second start as he continued his impressive climb up through the minors.  He gave up three runs on seven hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.

Christopher Dickerson belted a two run homer in the 5-3 win.  Ryan Freel started his rehab assignment and he went one for four with a run and a stolen base.

Bats Lose Two In Doubleheader Sweep By Buffalo

The Bats lost two in one day as they were swept in their doubleheader against Buffalo.  In game one, they were shutout 4-0 and the offense was held to two hits.  No extra base hits, just one walks so three baserunners and you’re not going to win too often with that kind of (lack of) offensive production.  Phil Dumatrait fell to 7-5 on the season with a mediocre start.  He gave up three runs on five hits three walks with two strikeouts in five innings.

Game two was a bit closer but the end result was the same as the Bats lost 4-3 in ten innings to make for along day of baseball.  Ricky Stone gave up a solo homerun in the tenth and he took the loss.  Jesse Gutierrez went three for four with two doubles, a run and an RBI.

Bats Edge Buffalo For Fourth Straight Win

The Bats continued their nice run with their fourth straight win.  Aaron Herr went one for two with three walks with two runs.  Ryan Jorgensen went one for four with two RBIs in the 6-5 win.

Steven Kelly picked up the win although he was more in the right place at the right time.  He gave up three runs in three innings and it was his first win of the season.

Joey Votto, Anderson Machado Each Homer, Drive In Three In Bats Win

The Bats beat up on the Redwings 9-5 for their third straight win and Joey Votto and Anderson Machado led the way for the Bats at the plate.  Votto went two for four with a homerun and three RBIs wihle Machado went two for four with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs.

Bobby Livingston improved to 2-4 on the season with a the win. He gave up two runs on ten hits with three strikeouts in seven innings.

Mark Bellhorn Powers Bats to Win Over Red Wings

Mark Bellhorn had a nice day at the plate in the Bats 5-2 win over Rochester.  He went two for four with a two run homer.  Joey Votto singled twice and he drove in two runs in the win.

Tom Shearn improved to 3-4 on the season with a nice start.  He gave up two runs on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.

Phil Dumatrait Throws Seven Shutout Innings In Win Over Rochester

Phil Dumatrait improved to 7-4 on the season with a nice start in the Bats 1-0 win over Rochester.  He gave up just three hits and a walk with two strikeouts in seven shutout innings.

Mark Bellhorn drove in the only run of the game for either side.  No Bat reached base twice and there were no extra base hits.

Mike Gosling Strikes Out Eight In Bats Loss

A pretty good start by Mike Gosling went to waste in the Bats 4-2 loss to Rochester.  He gave up just one run on three hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.  Kirk Saarloos gave up two runs in the ninth and he took his first loss since being sent down to Louisville.

Pedro Lopez was the hitting star in the loss.  He went three for five with an RBI.

Tom Shearn Is Shelled In Bats Loss

Tom Shearn was destroyed today.  He gave up eight runs in just 1 2/3 innings and the loss drops him to 2-4 on the season.  Hopefully the right hander can bounce back and get it together next time around.

Jeff Keppinger had a big day at the plate.  He went three for three with a homerun and two runs in the 10-5 loss.

Bobby Livingston Is Hit Hard In Bats Loss

Bobby Livingston dropped to 0-4 on the season in a rough start in the Bats 11-3 loss to the Knights.  He gave up seven runs on ten hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.

Mark Bellhorn was the hitting star.  He went two for three with a solo homerun.

Bats Held to One Run In Loss to Knights

Pedro Lopez drove in the only run of the game for the Bats in their 2-1 loss to the Knights.  Joey Votto was the only hitter with two hits in the game.

A great start by Phil Dumatrait went to waste.  He gave up just one run on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in eight innings.

Mark Bellhorn Drives In Five Runs In Bats Win

The Bats took care of the Bulls today 10-2 and Mark Bellhorn had a hand in half of those runs.  He only had one hit but it was a grand slam and Bellhorn finished the game with five RBIs.  Christopher Dickerson hit a two run shot and Mike Edwards went two for four with two walks and three runs.

Mike Gosling picked up the win with a really nice start.  He gave up just two runs on five hits with ten strikeouts in seven innings.  The win pushes his record to 5-2 on the season.

Steven Kelly Is Hit Hard In Bats Loss to Bulls

The Bats lost to the Bulls 4-3 and Steven Kelly dropped to 0-4 on the season with a rough start.  He gave up four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts in five innings.

Christopher Dickerson was the hitting star in the loss.  He went three for four with a double and an RBI.  Josh Hamilton singled and drew a walk in his final rehab start and Joey Votto doubled and scored a run.

Pedro Lopez Scores Three Runs In Bats Win

Pedro Lopez had only one hit, but it was a two run homer and he drew walk en route to a three run game.  Josh Hamilton also continued his solid hitting in his rehab start. He went two for five with a two run homer.

Homer Bailey didn’t have his best stuff but he improved to 6-1 on the season.  He gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks with eight strikeouts in six innings.

Bats Drop Second Straight In One Run Loss to Bulls

Steven Kelly gave up a solo homerun in the bottom of the tenth inning as the Bats lost to the Bulls 5-4.  Tom Shearn had a mediocre start and he gave up three runs on three hits and five walks with five strikeouts in five innings.

Jeff Keppinger went one for five but he drove in two runs.  Joey Votto had another nice game and he went three for four with two RBIs. He’s not hitting .321 on the season and he sports an impressive .942 OPS.  This kid should be in the bigs but the Reds locked up Scott Hatteberg so there’s no room for him, at least at the moment.
