Phil Dumatrait had his third straight rough start and he’s dropped to 5-4 with probably his worst start of the season. He gave up six runs on twelve hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
Joey Votto had the big hit of the game for the Bats in the 7-4 loss. He belted a three run shot to account for most of the Bats offense.
The Bats hit five homeruns as a team and Josh Hamilton hit two of those in their 13-6 win over the Knights. Both of Hamilton’s homers were solo shots and Christopher Dickerson went two for three with a homerun, two walks, three RBIs and two runs.
Mike Gosling picked up the win despite not having his best stuff. He gave up four runs on six hits and four walks with four strikeouts in five innings.
Josh Hamilton put the Bats in the board with a solo homer in the first inning of the team’s 4-3 win over Charlotte. Ryan Jorgensen went two for four with a two run homer.
Johnny Cueto made his first start after being promoted from High A and he impressed. He gave up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts in five innings of work.
Homer Bailey had another great start and he improved to 5-1 on the season in the 4-1 win over Charlotte. He gave up one run on five hits and struck out nine in seven quality innings.
Joey Votto singled and he drove in two runs in the win. Christopher Dickerson was a perfect four for four with a double and he scored one of the runs.
Louisville picked up just two runs on six hits and their pitchers were hit hard in a 9-2 loss. Tom Shearn took the loss and he dropped to 2-3 on the season. He gave up four runs on twelve hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings.
Earl Snyder hit a solo homerun in the loss. Jeff Keppinger went two for five with a double.
The Bats were blown out by Buffalo 9-5 and Phil Dumatrait dropped to 5-3 with the loss. He gave up six runs (four earned) on six hits and five walks with two strikeouts in five innings.
Christopher Dickerson doubled twice and he drove in a run. Mike Edwards went two for three with a run and an RBI.
There were plenty of hitting stars in the Bats 10-1 win over Buffalo. Dewayne Wise went three for five with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Earl Snyder hit a three run homer to help out the cause.
Lost in all of the offense was a nice start by Mike Gosling. He gave up just one run on six hits with one strikeout in 6 2/3 innings.
Aaron Herr singled home Jeff Kippinger in the bottom of the tenth inning to win it for the Bats. The infielder finished the game two for five with a homerun and two RBIs. Joey Votto had three hits including a solo homerun.
Jason Kershner picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief. He improved to 4-3 on the season. Bobby Livingston had a decent start and he gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
The pen made this game interesting by giving up four eighth inning runs after the Bats took a 6-1 lead. Still Homer Bailey picked up the win and he gave up just one run on one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
Earl Snyder hit a two run homer to help out the cause. Joey Votto went two for four and he scored two runs.
Joey Votto went two for three with a grand slam and two runs in the Bats 9-6 win over the Clippers. Edwin Encarnacion (who probably shouldn’t be at Triple A to begin with) was a perfect three for three with a homerun, two RBIs and three runs.
Tom Shern picked up the win with a solid start. He improved to 2-2 and he gave up three runs on seven hits and four walks with six strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.
The Bats fell behind 5-1 to the Clippers and while they made it a one run game, that’s as close as they’d get. Aaron Herr hit a two run homer and Joey Votto hit a solo shot in the loss. Votto was also the only Bat with three hits in the game.
Phil Dumatrait had an unusually bad loss. He gave up five runs on nine hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six innings of work. It’s the second time in three starts that Dumatrait has given up five runs or more and hopefully he’s not falling off a cliff. Of course in the other start, he threw six shutout innings so hopefully the real (and better) Dumatrait will establish himself in his next start.
Dewayne Wise got it done at the plate in the Bats 13-3 win over Toledo. He went two for five with two homeruns, four RBIs and three runs. Aaron Herr had four hits and he homered while Edwin Encarnacion homered and finished with three hits.
Mike Gosling got it done on the mound. He improved to 2-2 on the season and he gave up three runs on eleven hits with six strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.
The Bats took a 7-0 lead in this one yet lost 8-7 in ten innings to the Mud Hens. Bobby Livingston had a tough start and he gave up six runs but it was Ricky Stone who took the loss when he gave up a run in both the ninth and tenth innings.
Anderson Machado had a huge day at the plate in the loss. He went four for five and he hit for the cycle. He drove in two and scored twice.
The Bats lost both of their games by a single in a doubleheader with the Mud Hens. The first game saw the Bats get shutout on just one hit and a pretty good start by Steven Kelly went to waste. He gave up one run on one hit and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings.
In the second game, the Bats managed three runs but the pitchers gave up four. Richie Gardner gave up three runs in six innings while Wes Wilkerson gave up the deciding run in the bottom of the seventh. Joey Votto had his hands in two runs of the runs. He singled home a run and then later scored in the inning.
The Bats took care of the Mud Hens today as they finished a postponed game from yesterday. They needed a run in the ninth and then two in the elventh to seal the 5-4 win, but they got it done. Most of the offense was provided by Edwin Encarnacion. He went two for five with a double, a homerun and three RBIs. Joey Votto singled twice and he scored two runs.
Tom Shearn threw six innings and he took over when things kicked off today. He gave up three runs and he struck out five. Jason Kershner picked up the win and he improved his record to 3-3 on the season.
The Bats edged the Chiefs 5-4 and Aaron Herr was a one man show at the plate. He went three for four with a homerun and three RBIs. Chad Moeller provided the rest of the offense with two solo homeruns.
Mike Gosling picked up the win with 5 1/3 solid frames. He gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts and the win was his first of the season.
