Sarasota had a tough time today and they walked away with a pair of losses against the Tampa Yankees. Game one saw Scott Carroll get knocked around. He gave up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Neftali Soto went two for three with a double and two RBIs.
Game two was tough because an error led to four unearned runs. Luis Montano took the loss and he gave up five runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Jose Gualdron belted a solo home run in the 5-2 loss.
The Reds took care of Clearwater 7-3 and Denis Phipps was the hitting star in this one. Not only did he account for almost half of the Reds offense with a three run blast, but he also went three for five.
Luis Montano picked up the win and he improved to 5-6. He gave up three runs on eight hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings.
This one was ugly as Sarasota lost to Daytona 11-3. No pitcher was immune and all three gave up more runs then innings pitched. Luis Montano fell to 4-5 on the season after he took the loss. He gave up five runs on six hits and a walk in four innings.
Devin Mesoraco was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for three with two doubles and a walk.
Luis Montano continued his impressive campaign and he improved to 3-0 with a nice start in the Dragons 3-1 win over Cedar Rapids. He gave up just one run on one hits and two walks with five strikeouts in seven innings. Enerio Del Rosario saved his fourth game with two shutout innings.
Todd Frazier provided the bulk of the Reds offense. He went two for four with a two run homer.
Dayton blew out Beloit 9-2 and it was Brandon Waring who really stepped it up at the plate. He went three for five with two homers, five RBIs and three runs. Denis Phipps went three for five with a homerun and three RBIs.
Luis Montano improved to 2-0 with a nice start. He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks with one strikeout in five innings.
A pair of errors led to two unearned runs in Billings 6-4 loss to Idaho Falls. Luis Montano took the loss and he fell to 7-3. He gave up three runs (just one earned) on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
Todd Frazier went four for five with a double and an RBI. Brett Bartles went one for three with two walks, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Sarasota topped Daytona 7-4 and Brandon Szymanski played a huge role in the win. He went two for four with a triple, a homerun and four RBIs. Craig Tatum went three for four and he he scored two runs.
Luis Montano picked up the win although he was in the right place at the right time. He gave up two runs in his 2 1/3 innings of relief.
Craig Tatum hit the ball well in the Reds 6-3 win over Tampa. He went two for four with a two run homer. Jeremiah Piepkorn went three for four with two doubles and a run while Jay Bruce continued to hit well with two hits and two runs. Bruce now has nine runs in the first ten games.
Luis Montano picked up the win with some solid relief. He gave up three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
