The Dragons lost to South Bend 8-4 in a game where Dayton just couldn’t find any pitching. Rafael Gonzalez gave up four runs in his start and both Kevin Gunter and Misael DeJesus gave up two runs a piece. Gunter took the loss because the two runs he gave up broke a 4-4 tie.
Logan Parker belted a big three run homer that gave the Dragons the lead for at least a half inning. Carson Kainer was the only Dragon with two hits and he drove in a run.
Each team took a game in the doubleheader split between the Dragons and South Bend. In the first game, the Dragons got a nice start from Rafael Gonzalez in the 2-0 win. He gave up three hits and he struck out three and he threw all seven innings. He improved to an impressive 7-1 on the season. Juan Francisco was the hitting star in the win. He went two for three with a double and he scored one of the two runs.
Game two didn’t go quite as well. Daniel Guerrero had rough start and Misael DeJesus took the loss when he gave up two runs in the seventh inning. Chris Valaika doubled and he drove in two and scored once.
Dayton scored four runs in the top of the seventh and they needed every one of them in the Dragons 6-5 win over Cedar Rapids. Chris Valaika was the hitting star and he had a hand in most of the runs. He went two for five with a double, a homeruns four RBIs and two runs.
Misael DeJesus threw 2 1/3 shutout relief innings and he picked up the win. Jose Rojas pitched three shutout innings to close the game out andhe picked up his seventh save of the season.
The Dragons were held to just five hits in their 4-2 loss to Beloit. All five hits were singles and no Dragon reached base more then once.
Misael DeJesus took the loss. He gave up a run in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
Dayton used four pitchers and all four did their job today. Starter Jamie Arneson gave up three hits and four walks with five strikeouts in four innings. Misael DeJesus picked up the win and he threw 2 1/3 innings of shutout ball.
Chris Heisey drove in two runs and tripled. Jason Louwsma also had a nice game and he went two for two with two RBIs and a run.
