The Bats lost two in one day as they were swept in their doubleheader against Buffalo. In game one, they were shutout 4-0 and the offense was held to two hits. No extra base hits, just one walks so three baserunners and you’re not going to win too often with that kind of (lack of) offensive production. Phil Dumatrait fell to 7-5 on the season with a mediocre start. He gave up three runs on five hits three walks with two strikeouts in five innings.
Game two was a bit closer but the end result was the same as the Bats lost 4-3 in ten innings to make for along day of baseball. Ricky Stone gave up a solo homerun in the tenth and he took the loss. Jesse Gutierrez went three for four with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
The Bats took a 7-0 lead in this one yet lost 8-7 in ten innings to the Mud Hens. Bobby Livingston had a tough start and he gave up six runs but it was Ricky Stone who took the loss when he gave up a run in both the ninth and tenth innings.
Anderson Machado had a huge day at the plate in the loss. He went four for five and he hit for the cycle. He drove in two and scored twice.
The Bats picked up two wins today in a couple of close games against the Syracuse Chiefs. In the first game, Chad Moeller led the offense in the 6-5 win. He went two for three with a double, a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Mark Bellhorn went two for four with an RBI. Gary Majewski picked up the win with an inning of shutout relief.
The second game was a little more low scoring, but it was a win none the less as the Bats won it 3-2. Bobby Livingston gave up a bunch of hits (12) but only two baserunners crossed the plate in 5 2/3 innings. Ricky Stone picked up the win with 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief. Earl Snyder was the hitting star and he went two for two with a walk, an RBI and a run.
