The Mudcats dropped their third straight and they fell to 4-5 on he season with a rough day at the plate in a 4-0 loss to Mobile. They picked up just four hits, all of which were singles. There were no hitting stars in this one folks.
James Avery took the loss and he fell to 0-1 on the season. He gave up four runs, but just one was earned, on five hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in six innings. Ruben Medina threw two shutout innings and he struck out two to close out the game.
Ruben Medina gave up three runs on the tenth inning as the Reds lost to the Yankees 8-5. It didn’t help that Daniel Guerrero had a rough start. He gave up five runs on eight hits with three strikeouts in five innings.
Jason Louwsma went two for five with a double and a run. Michael DeJesus went two for four with a run and an RBI.
The Sarasota Reds continued their hot streak with a 5-3 win over Clearwater. Starter Travis Wood gave up three runs in the first inning but both he and the pen shut down the opposition the rest of the way. Ruben Medina picked up the win with three shutout innings of relief.
Eric Eymann went three for four with a double, a run and an RBI. Daniel Dorn went two for four with a double and two RBIs.
Jeremiah Piepkorn led Sarasota with the stick in their 5-3 win over the Dunedin. He went three for five with two doubles and two RBIs. Adam Rosales also had a very good game and he finished with three hits, an RBI and two runs.
Johnny Cueto was mediocre in his five innings and he gave up three runs. Ruben Medina picked up the win with two shutout relief innings and Josh Roenicke picked up his sixth save with a scoreless ninth.
