Jeremy Horst improved to 3-8 on the season with a nice start in the Sarasota Reds 5-3 win over Lakeland. He gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven solid frames. Enerio Del Rosario struck out two in a shutout ninth to earn save number five.
Neftali Soto went two for four with a home run, two RBIs and two runs. Jake Kahaulello doubled and drove in a pair.
Matthew Klinker was the only pitcher to get hit hard in the Sarasota’s 12-5 loss to Lakeland, but he took the loss and he was hit the hardest. He gave up six runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk with a strikeout in two innings. Four errors didn’t help things and they turned into seven unearned runs.
Devin Mesoraco was the hitting star in the loss. He went one for two with a three run blast.
Talk about a heartbreaker. The Reds scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to tie this only to have Justin Freeman give up his second run in as many innings to lose it in a 5-4 game. Rafael Gonzalez had a decent enough start go to waste. He gave up three runs on seven hits with five strikeouts in six innings.
Justin Reed was the hitting star and he went three for four with a triple and an RBI. Neftali Soto belted a solo home run, his sixth of the season.
Matthew Klinker got it done on the mound and he improved to 2-1 with a really nice start in the Reds 5-0 win over Palm Beach. He gave up six hits and he struck out nine in six shutout innings.
Justin Reed went two for four with a walk, two RBIs and a run. Denis Phipps went two for four with a run.
Matthew Klinker improved to 1-1 on the season with a nice start in the Reds 3-1 win over Clearwater. He gave up just four hits without a walk and with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 shutout innings. Enerio Del Rosario threw 1 2/3 shutout innings and he picked up his second save of the season.
Denis Phipps went two for four with a double and an RBI. Jake Kahaulelio went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
Jeremy Horst had a tough time as he took the loss in a 9-1 blowout loss to Clearwater. He fell to 2-8 and he gave up five runs on nine hits and one walk with five strikeouts in five innings.
Mariekson Gregorius was the hitting star and he went two for three with a double and a run. Jason Louwsma went two for four with a double.
The Reds took care of Clearwater 7-3 and Denis Phipps was the hitting star in this one. Not only did he account for almost half of the Reds offense with a three run blast, but he also went three for five.
Luis Montano picked up the win and he improved to 5-6. He gave up three runs on eight hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings.
Neftali Soto had just one hit but it was a big three run blast as the Reds took care of the Flying Tigers 11-7. Soto finished with four RBIs and Mariekson Gregorius went three for five with two RBIs and a run.
Rafael Gonzalez improved to 1-2 with a solid outing. He gave up three runs on five hits and four walks with four strikeouts in six innings.
The Reds took care of the Yankees 4-1 and it was Travis Webb who was good enough on the mound. He improved to 4-4 and he gave up one run on four hits and five walks with five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.
Denis Phipps was the hitting star in the win. He went three for five with two RBIs.
Jerry Gil improved to 3-6 on the season in the Reds 6-1 win over the Daytona Cubs. He gave up one run on four hits and four walks with a strikeout in 5 1/3 innings.
Denis Phipps went two for four with a triple, two runs and two RBIs. Jason Louwsma pitched in with a two run homer.
Sarasota matched the Daytona Cubs with nine hits, they just couldn’t push a single runner across the plate as they lost 4-0. Devin Mesoraco had three of those hits while Carson Kainer went two for four.
Jeremy Horst fell to 2-5 on the season with a so-so start. He gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
