James Avery didn’t take the loss, but he got things going as the Lookouts were knocked around by the Biscuits. He gave up four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Pedro Viola was boucned for three runs in just 2/3 of an inning.
Tonys Gutierrez went two for four with a solo homer. Craig Tatum doubled, drew two walks and drove in a run.
Sarasota was held to just five hits in a 3-2 loss to Clearwater that will force a deciding game three to determine who plays Brevard County in the Florida State League finals. Eric Eymann was the only Red with two hits and Tonys Gutierrez singled, drew a walk, scored a run and drove in one.
Daryl Thompson took the loss although he threw a decent enough game. He gave up two runs on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings of work.
Sarasota took game one in their best of the three game series with Clearwater as they make a run for the Florida State League championship. Ben Jukich was the star on the mound. He didn’t allow a single hit with two walks and five strikeouts in seven innings.
Cody Strait put the Reds on the board with what turned out to be the game winning run with a solo homerun in the fourth inning. Tonys Gutierrez had a nice game with two singles in four at bats.
The Lookouts went into the seventh down 4-1 but they scored four in the seventh and one in the eighth to win it. Tonys Guitierrez went four for four with a double and a run. Tyrell Godwin went two for four with two doubles, three RBIs and a run.
Mike Bumatay picked up the win although he was pretty much in the right place at the right time. He got the two batters out that he pitched to in the sixth inning.
James Avery dropped to 5-7 on the season with a rough start in the Lookouts 7-3 loss to Jacksonville. He gave up four runs on eight hits and five walks with three strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
Tonys Gutierrez went one for three with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs in the loss. Ryan Hanigan went two for four with a run.
Luke Lockwood picked up his first win of the season in a 6-1 win over the Jaxx. He gave up one run on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings.
Tonys Gutierrez went four for five and he drove in a run. Drew Anderson went two for five with a run and an RBI.
The Lookouts took a beating and lost 10-3 to Mobile. Camilo Vazquez was hit hard in his start and he took the loss. He gave up five runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings of work.
Ryan Hanigan singled twice and scored a run. Tonys Gutierrez went two for three in the loss.
James Avery was roughed by Mobile in the Lookouts 10-3 loss. He dropped to 5-3 on the season and he gave up seven runs (five earned) on nine hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
Tonys Gutierrez singled and he drove in all three Lookout runs. Ryan Hanigan walked twice and he scored a run.
The Lookouts picked up a 5-1 win over West Tennessee and they did it with a nice start by James Avery. The righthander gave up just one run on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in seven innings.
Tonys Gutierrez was the hitting star. He went four for four with two doubles and two runs. Drew Anderson also had a nice game and he went two for four with a triple, two RBIs and a run.
The Lookouts were bounced today and Luke Lockwood took it on the chin in the 5-1 loss. He gave up all five runs on ten hits with four strikeouts in six innings of work. The loss pushed his record to 0-2.
Tonys Gutierrez drove in the only run of the game for the Lookouts. Christopher Dickerson went two for four.
