The Bats lost both of their games by a single in a doubleheader with the Mud Hens. The first game saw the Bats get shutout on just one hit and a pretty good start by Steven Kelly went to waste. He gave up one run on one hit and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings.
In the second game, the Bats managed three runs but the pitchers gave up four. Richie Gardner gave up three runs in six innings while Wes Wilkerson gave up the deciding run in the bottom of the seventh. Joey Votto had his hands in two runs of the runs. He singled home a run and then later scored in the inning.
The Bats got it done with the long ball in their 6-5, ten inning win over Richmond. Joey Votto finished with two doubles, a homerun and three RBIs and DeWayne Wise homered twice and scored three runs to lead the way for the Bats at the plate.
Tom Shearn was hit hard and he gave up four runs in 6 1/3 innings. Wes Wilkerson struck out two and improved to 2-0 with a shutout tenth
Louisville lost a tough one tonight as they blew a 2-0 lead and then eventually lost the game in eleven innings. Tom Shearn threw five shutout innings but Wes Wilkerson gave up two runs to tie it and then Steven Kelly lost in the eleventh.
Dewayne Wise had a solid game at the plate. He went two for four with a double and a run.
The Louisville Bats improved to 4-1 with a shutout by the pitching staff. Mike Gosling got the start and he threw six shutout innings and gave up just three hits. He walked two and struck out four. Wes Wilkerson threw the final two frames and he picked up the win.
The lone run came in the ninth inning. Aaron Herr doubled in the ninth and that was the first Bats hit of the game. Then Bubba Crosby singled him home for the walk off RBI.
