Louisville had a rough day and they put up two losses on Sunday at home against the Clippers. Game one was a 6-4 loss where Justin Lehr was roughed up. He gave up five runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings and he fell to 0-2 on the season. Daniel Dorn went two for three with a home run and two runs while Zach Cozart went two for three with a double, an RBI and a run.
Game two was a 3-0 shutout. The four different batters had two hits while the rest of the team had none. Dorn went two for four and he had the lone extra base hit with a double. Chad Reinke gave up three runs on six hits in four innings and he fell to 0-1 on the season.
This was a tough one because the Bats blew a one run lead in the ninth then lost it in the tenth. Sam LeCure had a mediocre start and he gave up two runs in 4 1/3 innings before yielding to the pen. Jon Adkins gave up the ninth inning run and then Jesus Delgado took the loss after he gave up a solo home run in the tenth.
Daniel Dorn hit a solo home run and he drew two walks. Zach Cozart went two for four with a run.
Aroldis Chapman came as advertised as he mowed down Hen after Hen in the Bats 2-1 win. Chapman struck out nine and he gave up just an unearned run on five hits and a walk in 4 2/3 innings. Enerio Del Rosario struck out four in 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief and Jon Adkins pitched a shutout ninth to pick up save number two.
Zack Cozart doubled three times in the win. Chris Heisey belted a solo home run, his first of the season.
Carolina came back from a three run deficit to beat the Lookouts 4-3. Zach Cozart belted a two run blast to help out the cause while Logan Parker doubled twice.
Jordan Smith improved to 5-3 with a solid start. He gave up three runs on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings. Logan Ondrusek gave up one hit in the ninth and he picked up his third save of the season.
The Mudcats broke a 6-6 tie in the top of the ninth with one run only to see the Smokies score two in the bottom half of the frame to win it. Zach Cozart went two for five with two RBIs and a run. Juan Francisco went two for five with a double, two runs and an RBI.
Ramon Geronimo took the loss when he gave up the two ninth inning runs. The loss dropped him to 2-2 on the season.
